Walking The Footpaths
During a recent survey conducted by the Parish Council, many of you said that you would appreciate a map clearly indicating the routes of footpaths around Upwell. In order to do this effectively a certain amount of ground work has been necessary e.g. ensuring that fingerposts are in place, footpaths passable and dykes suitably supplied with means by which to cross them. Councillor Prue Lester has negotiated with the appropriate authorities to bring this about and the walks have subsequently been tried by a small group of enthusiastic walkers. The landlord of the Five Bells has kindly agreed to have a path board fixed to the wall of the pub and a draft of this has been produced. It should be possible to print, publish and distribute a footpaths leaflet, with map, by the end of July. These will be available from local shops and we hope you will enjoy walking the paths in and around our lovely village.
