Home Watch Scheme Launches In Upwell
The following notice is being circulated by volunteer co-ordinators, where these have been recruited: As part of the Council`s initiative to introduce the Home Watch scheme (elsewhere called Neighbourhood Watch) , a number of volunteers have already offered to act as Co-ordinators. Each co-ordinator will assume responsibility for contacting the owners or residents of around 12 to 20 houses in a given area of the parish. Everyone interested in the scheme is invited to join as a member. The Council is also actively seeking further co-ordinators to cover parts of the parish not yet in the scheme. The benefits are clear, but these benefits will be the more obvious and the more readily achievable if we can recruit members throughout the parish. Membership will cost £3 as a one-off payment, which will ensure your being included in any circulation of information or alerts, and also buy you a 10cm. by 15cm. Home Watch warning sign to place at your property, along with window stickers if desired. No further payment will be requested unless the residents of any particular area wish to have more signs erected, or wish to progress to some other initiative. Many Home Insurance companies are willing to deduct 10% from their premiums if you can show Home Watch membership, so that, in such cases, your £3 would constitute a good investment! Please feel free to contact your local co-ordinator or the Parish Clerk for further information. For the benefit of all, we strongly urge you to support the scheme, and turn this parish into a no-go area for criminals and vandals!
